What a beautiful film.... What a beautiful father-son relationship..... Great acting and so well-written.... And may I just add, Russell Crowe was adorable in this... You just feel like giving him a hug

as a Aussie I think the acting was great, but this isn't like a normal Aussie movie , I feel like the movie has to spoon feed the audience , yes it a good gay father son story , but Aussie movies don't really do that spoon feeding

59:14 I releated so much to the father here my son who's gay told me he had been with some girls before and I was Like What! REALLY!! And did the same thing the father did of saying " Did you Like it? Have you ever thought about doing it again" 😂 I did feel bad afterwards because I do love my son and accept him for who he is but I do sometimes wish I could talk about girls with him because I find it hard to connect with him about guys since im straight. He has had his heart broken before and I find it hard to help him since I dont understand what its like to be gay and date guys than what it is to be straight and dates girls.

There is a huge part of my brain devoted to the scene of the ladies being separated. I think of it often.

Acceptance from Dad is one thing but this Aussie family situation is creepy.

Saw this movie years ago and LOVED IT. Saw beyond it being gay. It's about relationships. I have thought about that lady in the train. I'm alone and lonely BUT LIFE is wonderful and worth pursuing. 2 LIFE🥂

Movies are a good way for us to process tough issues but as much as people like this film as I did it does not change the truth about homosexuality. It is not what was intended for man. I believe a man and woman when married reflect what our creator is like. When we choose this lifestyle it doesn’t reflect the true character of our maker. It’s out of balance with the true nature of things.

watching it again..feels like a relief from all the pro nouns of today. simpler times. it was better when things were not as ''in your face'' but i am most likely wrong.

I saw this movie when I was 14 and was always a favourite, and very ahead of its time, it has the comedy, the depth, the emotion and the bond between father and son and the acceptance I am always crying at the end as all Harry wanted was Geoff to experience what was the greatest adventure of all love xx

My pervert father - always full of hatred, unnecessary unwanted bias, judgemental attitudes... Brought a dozen and more "children??? " only to "divide and rule... I realized I had seen this before, and was happy to watch it again. A unique story of a Father & Son , the trials of life and love, with others & between the two of them as a Family. Excellent movie !

I agree with everything that everyone has said. I was at the 1994 Madi gra. What a parade. I guess at the end, about all we have left are memories.

You never see single queer people in caregiving roles trying to navigate life and love. Such a rare gem of a film.

Does anybody else think the father's behaviour is really creepy and inappropriate? I get the feeling he's repressed gay himself and is expressing it towards his son in a warped way with inappropriate and intrusive remarks. I'm surprised nobody else that I can find seems to think this

She said, "no..it's too soon..." "i don't want to make another mistake"... BS.. Just before she was talking about her former husband and how she never said "NO" to him... She also told Harry that it was her first time to date after.. So who the hell was she talking about..? was she saying that her Husband, the father of her child, was a mistake...? is that the kind of woman you want to get involved with..?

It's one of my all-time favorite movies. Russell Crowe is sincere and awesome in his character as he is in all movies. It's a totally believable storyline. Heartbreaking situation with his elderly aunt, which has happened far too often in real life.
